Member FAQ’s
There is parking in the Aldi supermarket carpark just outside of our premises. You are allowed 2 hours in this carpark without the need to go into Aldi for a receipt. For longer stays there are backroads the road over.
£40 per month for full access, £25 for off peak (10-4 weekdays, full access weekends)
Because most commercial gyms operate on a weekly or monthly rent basis, the pressure is always there to be turning over a certain number of clientele in order to reach this amount and ultimately make profit. This can cause experienced trainers to have to compromise their business model and force them into adding a higher number of clients. With Subtle’s pay per client method, experienced trainers do not need to compromise and can continue to train their select clientele in a unique and fully equipped space.
At the same time, part-time trainers can also benefit from this service in a similar way. We understand that some trainers are PT’s alongside other jobs. Some simply do it as a side hustle for some extra cash, or perhaps are part time for now with the intention of eventually going full time but are not quite there yet. Our pay per client option can bridge that gap between having a smaller number of clients and having enough to warrant going full time and paying full rent at a gym.
Yes, we have a joining fee of £10.
The agreement is a monthly rolling agreement to which you are able to cancel at any time without a calendar months notice. We will cancel for the end of the same month so long as we know before the payment is due to be taken.
We don’t do official inductions so to speak. Our members here are expected to have an understanding of how to operate in a gym to a certain extend and are responsible for their own health and wellbeing inside the space. We do however have a number of PT’s who can assist or offer inductions however costs can vary.
Yes, we will always offer assistance in the gym if required. We do also have our subtle_sessions_ page on Instagram which detailed exercises with key points, and workouts that our members can follow.
Is the membership inclusive of haircuts?
The membership is not inclusive of haircuts within the cost, however our members do receive discounts on haircut services, sunbed and food and drink at Lockett Fuel Café downstairs.
We don’t do group classes within the premises.
Do you do 1-1 Personal Training?
We have a number of trainers that perform 1-1 personal training in house. If you are interested in this then please feel free to get in touch.
Do you have changing rooms and showers?
Yes, we have a unisex changing room and 2 showers that are all cubicles. Our toilets are also cubicles.
Yes, we have 4 digit pin coded lockers that reset after every use so no need for padlocks.
How many minutes can I do on the sunbed?
Our sunbed tokens are 5 minute tokens so anything from 5 minutes upwards typically.
We are based above Ashley Automotive / Lockett Fuel Café on Wallisdown road.
How do I get into the premises?
You walk through Locket Fuel back gate entrance through the car lot and up the back L shaped outer staircase.
Is the barbershop open at the same time as the gym?
No, the barbershop is open slightly different hours to the gym. Check out our contact us page for opening times for both.
We have 5 cardio machines – Treadmill, Assault bike, Watt bike, HIIT Rower and Stairmaster.
We have a bus stop directly outside of the premises, (E-bound, 6, 6a, 15, 17, 36, 86, 450, C11).
What do your dumbbells go up to?
2.5kg – 50kg
Yes, we do offer a lump sum yearly payment for a reduced rate. 12 months for £300 for full access or £200 for off peak.
Do you take card for the barbershop?
We do take card for every element in house, including the sunbed, drinks and the barbershop.
Do you take cash for the gym payments?
We only take cash for the initial joining fee and or pro rata payment. The monthly recurring payments are done via long card number and expiry date.
PT FAQ’s
We do not operate classes in the gym.
No, our PT’s are expected to provide their own insurance.
Do you have employed positions for PT’s?
No, our PTs are all self-employed.
What models do you offer for PT’s?
We do normal rent model and Pay Per Client.
How do you run Pay Per Client?
We operate PTPC on Booksy booking system whereas our PT’s simply book their 1 hour slot for any given time. There are only 2 available slots for any time in the day to minimise the potential for overcrowding.
Can I use Subtle Studio within my marketing?
Yes, as long as you are a licensed PT with us you may use us within your marketing. We do also have some marketing videos which we send to our PT’s to be able to promote the space and their involvement within it.
